Dresses have gotten shorter, sleeves are non-existent and sexy swimsuits are everywhere – it’s clear, minimalism is the theme of the summer. But as temperatures rise, your apparel isn’t the only thing that’s lessened; your makeup is, too.
Ah, the many joys of makeup. It can be worn to accent facial features, cover up imperfections or simply enhance to your natural beauty. However, in excessive daytime heat, it is important to remember that less is more.
While I’m a cosmetic connoisseur, during the summertime, I believe it is imperative to stick to a neutral makeup palette for a natural look during the daytime and save the more time-consuming, dramatic makeup looks for nighttime and weekends.
Here are three of my go-to (universally flattering) beauty products for a natural daytime look all summer long.
Gold Eyeshadow – Whether it’s day or night, gold eyeshadow has become a beauty staple for me. During work hours, I love highlighting my inner eye corners in gold for a subtle brightening effect. Try bareMinerals True Gold from Sephora to get the look.
Tinted Gloss – In sunlight, I love the subtle sheen of tinted lip-gloss. One of my all-time favorites is MAC Cosmetics’ C-Thru Lipglass.
Non-Glittery Bronzer – Why tan when you can achieve a healthy glow with bronzer? I love the radiant coverage (see photo atop this post) I get from Laura Mercier 'Matte Radiance' Baked Powder.
