Summer beauty is all about simple, multi-tasking products that can handle the heat.  My newest go-to summer beauty products are BB creams. BB stands for "beauty balm" or "blemish balm" and they have been all the rage in Asia for years but are finally making their debut in the American market.  BB creams are essentially glorified tinted moisturizers with loads of benefits. While I wouldn't go so far as to say that BB creams are the "miracle creams' they've been said to be; I do believe they are are a great option for anyone looking for coverage, SPF, and extra benefits such as hydration and anti-aging.

Though brands such as Garnier have come out with drug store versions of BB cream, I've found that Sephora (like the one at Fashion Valley) is the best place to go if you are looking to try out a few of the best BB creams to hit beauty counters in America.  The selection at the Fashion Valley Sephora is great and you are able to try them out before making a purchase.  This is a big plus when it comes to BB creams because many of them don't come in several colors.  Most are sold in one shade that has the ability to blend with a wide range of skin tones.

Fashion Valley Mall Beauty BalmMy top pick for BB cream is Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm w/ SPF 45.  I apply it with my fingers and I can usually skip my regular moisturizer because it has one built right in.  After applying, I let it set for a few minutes and then top with a translucent mineral powder such as the Bare Minerals Mineral Veil for a matte look. Sometimes I'll add a little blush or bronzer but I find that the BB cream gives such a natural coverage that I don't have to add anything else.  I've definitely seen improvement in my usually oily and acne prone skin since I started using the Dr. Jart+ BB cream.  My skin tone is more even, fine lines are less visible, and my pores appear smaller.  Not to mention, the easy application is huge plus!

Magan's Picks: Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm w/ SPF 45, Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35, Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30

If you're looking for one-step coverage that can handle the summer heat while also improving your skin then look no further.  Check out the selection of BB creams at Sephora at Fashion Valley and be sure to tell me what you think!
